Feature Creep

Feature Creep (AKA ‘Featuritis’) happens when stakeholders add excessive features to a product, in a way that distracts from its key function.
This is often done to compete with other products or follow trends.
The typical result? A product that does many things badly.
MORE complexity can lead to LESS usability. How do we combat this?
Focus on solving user problems.
A simple, intuitive design that does what the user wants > A confusing design that does many things the user does not need.
Always remember that more features = more cost. Research and development, testing, certifications – even supply chain and end-of-life considerations. They all carry a price tag.
Does the added cost translate to user value?
If not, your product may be suffering from ‘Featuritis.’
